5 Must Haves for Your Spring Makeup Routine!

Can you believe it's almost April?  Even though the temps here in Colorado aren't fully reflecting Spring yet, my makeup routine definitely is! As a busy mom to a three year old, I need a makeup routine that is quick, hides my dark circles and lasts all day.

This makeup look took 6 minutes and 24 seconds from start to finish, so it definitely checks the quick box!

My makeup drawer is full of lots of products, but these 5 will be on repeat throughout Spring.  It combines a light and airy look with all the beach-y bronze vibes of warmer weather!

1. BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer:  I have used this product for several years and swear by it! It evens out your skin tone, but is not nearly as heavy as a full coverage foundation.  I wear the shade Bisque.

2. Skin Perfecting Concealer: If you have dark circles or have been tired since 1995, this is a must have in your makeup arsenal.  The coverage is opaque, so it knocks those dark spots/circles right out. You can also mix it with BB Cream if you want more of a full coverage foundation.  I wear the shade Scarlet.

3. Beachfront Bronzer: Talk about a multi-purpose product!  When I can use one product in multiple ways, I do a little happy dance.  This product is also a half and half - half shimmer/half matte.  I used the shimmer side for eyeshadow, the matte side for blush and swirled my brush to pick up both for my contour.  I wear the shade Sunset.

4. Epic Mascara:  There is no question in my mind that this is the best mascara out there.  It not only lengthens and volumizes your lashes without making them look clumpy, but the staying power is insane - no smudging or running! I've even worn it in the pool and it withstood the ultimate splash test!

5. LipBonBons Tinted Lip Balm:  I have a lot of lip products, but this is the only one that I have in my office, kitchen, purse AND car...it's that good! It is super moisturizing and I love that it's tinted to add a pop of color on the go.  I'm wearing the shade Cherry Cobbler.

Sunday Can Make or Break Your Week

"A Sunday well spent, brings a week of content."

I grew up in a Southern Baptist Church in a small town in East Texas.  I heard Pastors and Sunday School Teachers teach us to honor the Sabbath all of my life, but to be honest, no one ever really explained what that meant.  I don't think it was intentional, I think it was something they just assumed we understood....note, I did not, haha!

So growing up, I understood honoring the Sabbath to mean going to Sunday School and church on Sunday morning and that's what we did.  Every Sunday we went to church, we studied the bible, we sang the songs, we fellowshipped with our church family.  Then we went home and carried on with our afternoon.  We also had a Sunday evening service (you were REALLY committed to the Sabbath if you came on Sunday evenings).   After Sunday evening church, I'd rush home and finish the MOUND of homework I still had or project I needed to finish, because I was always an A+ procrastinator.  In case you didn't catch it, my Sunday was definitely not a restful day, it was a GOOD day, but it wasn't what you would categorize as restful.

In college, weekends were f-u-l-l to say the least.  They were filled with road trips, concerts, movie nights, and various other shenanigans.  My sophomore year of college, I started traveling with a Girls Ministry and doing weekend youth ministry retreats at various churches.  Sundays were typically spent traveling back home, power napping and then cramming for the week ahead.  This cycle continued after college into my early 20s.  I was now on staff in the youth ministry at a GREAT church and Sundays were busy.  I was there early, typically went to lunch with some of the families after church and then was back for afternoon meetings and evening activities. Let me pause to say EVERYTHING I was doing was amazing and so fulfilling, but definitely not restful.

When I left youth ministry and went into teaching, my weekends somewhat reverted back to my high school days.  Busy Saturday, followed by church on Sunday and a busy afternoon trying to catch up on all the things on my list from the week that had not been crossed off.  This cycle continued into marriage, until the year that we moved to Colorado.

Let me say again, none of the things I was filling my Sunday with were necessarily bad or wrong...but I can also say that I never went to bed on Sunday night feeling rested and content to face the week ahead.

The year that we moved to Colorado, my husband Sean was in the hospital 8 times. We started this cycle about a week after we moved here (that whole story is a series in itself!).  Jack was almost 4 months old at the time.  Our regular weekly Sunday routine was non-existent at this point.  Thankfully, we found a church that we loved, that offered a Saturday night service and started attending when we were able to.

That season taught me what it truly meant to have a Sabbath.  Since we went to church on Saturday night, I was able to take Sunday and just REST.  This often meant we stayed in pjs all day watching movies, at other times when Sean was up to it, it meant we went to the park or on a family walk.  As I've studied this topic more, I've realized that your Sabbath doesn't necessarily have to be on Sunday and it doesn't even mean you have to stay in your pjs all day - -it should be a day that REFUELS you.  In fact, in the Jewish culture, the Sabbath is held from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

As a family, we cherish our Sabbath now.  If something out of the ordinary comes up and we don't get that time of rest as a family, I really feel like the week is a lot more stressful.  I know that as we enter different seasons of life, we may not always have our Sabbath on Sunday, but we will always make time to set aside one day a week to recharge as a family.

What does your Sabbath look like?

Let me {RE} introduce myself!

Hello Beautiful Friends!! You are probably thinking...hmmm this seems familiar, but different.  That's because it is! You've previously known me as Beauty and Lace Boutique, BUT over the past year my brand (and my heart) have grown and evolved into a much bigger vision.  That doesn't mean Beauty and Lace Boutique is going away - - NOT. AT. ALL!

We are still here and thriving (and have some really cute items coming for Summer), BUT as I've gotten emails asking about everything from the best hair straightener, to my favorite eye makeup remover, to quick and simple dinner ideas, I've realized that there is such a GIANT need in women's lives for a community that they feel safe and loved and seen in!

SO here we are! You will see everything from hair and makeup demos, to fashion, to easy week night dinners, to travel, to every day life with a toddler.  I'm a hot-mess and taking you along for the ride!

I thought it would be fun to do a little random top 10 for you to {RE} introduce myself. Here we go!

1. I am as Texas as you can get, born and raised, but now live in Colorado.  Sweet tea, big hair and flip flops are my love languages. This is the log cabin that I grew up on out in East Texas.

2. I have severe endometriosis.  I was diagnosed at age 22.  Jack is my 1st miracle baby and we are working on miracle baby #2!

3. My husband, Sean, is medically retired from the U.S. Navy.  Look at my handsome sailor!! There's a special place in my heart for all of the military spouses.  It's not an easy job!

4. My son, Jack, just turned 3 and is the MOST fun! He is ALL boy - give him dinosaurs, dirt and cars and he's a happy camper.  We are counting the days till the snow is gone and we can just be outside all day long.

5. In what feels like another lifetime I was a teacher for 8 years.

6. The travel itch runs deep in my bones. My favorite place to ever visit was South Africa.

7. This is kind of an oxymoron, but I love to cook and entertain for big groups of people, HOWEVER the day to day meal prep - - not my fave!

8. Sean and I have been married for (almost) 6 years. We got married on our 1 year dating anniversary.

9. I am not a size 2 or even a size 8.  I am a real, raw woman who is still struggling to lose the baby weight through a sensible diet and exercise.  I'm a work in progress.

10. My favorite part of my job is seeing women find confidence in themselves and blossom into the amazing force that they were meant to be!

One of my greatest desires is for this to be a place of love, encouragement and support for women of all shapes, sizes and colors.  My heart and passion is that you will be seen and know that you are loved here!!

So, WELCOME! Make yourself at home.
